1What Spotovka does
On a spot electricity tariff in the Czech Republic? Spotovka shows what a kilowatt-hour costs right now and when it will be cheapest, so you know when to run the washer, the boiler or the car charger.
- The price now — the live 15-minute price in CZK/kWh, coloured by whether it is cheap, normal or expensive.
- A full-day chart — 24 hours of today and, from 2 p.m., of tomorrow.
- The cheapest window — the cheapest continuous 1 to 4 hours, searched 24 hours ahead, so in the evening it can point to tomorrow’s noon.
- The price on your bill — optionally with distribution, fees and VAT added.
Prices come from the OTE day-ahead market (via spotovaelektrina.cz). No account needed.
2Installation and first run
- Install Spotovka from the Connect IQ Store, in the Connect IQ phone app or on the web.
- Find it among your glances: scroll up or down from the watch face. If it is not there, add it with Edit at the end of the glance list.
- Open it the first time with your phone nearby. Prices are downloaded through the phone; until Spotovka has them it shows „No data yet“.
- Done. From then on prices refresh in the background (every 60 minutes by default) and every time you open the widget.
Controls: UP and DOWN (or START, or a swipe) switch between the Today and Tomorrow pages; BACK on Tomorrow returns to Today.
3Glance
The glance is the line in your widget list, the one you see most often, so it carries the essentials:
- The current price in CZK/kWh, coloured by level.
- An 8-hour mini chart on the right: where the price is heading.
- The title names the cheapest window of those 8 hours, e.g. „CHEAP 1-3h“, and underlines its bars. When it fits, a countdown is added („IN 55 MIN“). Until you have opened the widget once, the title just says SPOTOVKA.
- OFFLINE instead of „Kč/kWh“ means prices have not been refreshed for over 2 hours. Today’s prices stay valid; only the fresh 15-minute price is missing.
4Today page
- The big number is the price now. With NOW it is the current 15-minute price; when that is not available (no phone, for example) it is the average of the current hour, labelled with the hour range such as „19-20h“.
- The chart has 24 bars, one per hour. The white triangle marks the current hour, hours already over are dimmed, the dotted line is the day’s average.
- MIN · MAX are the lowest and highest hourly prices of the day.
- The bottom line is the cheapest window. If it starts today it shows a countdown („CHEAPEST 22-24h · IN 55 MIN“) and a white line under its bars; if tomorrow is cheaper it reads „TOMORROW 12-14h“.
On smaller displays long lines shorten themselves to fit the round screen.
5Tomorrow page
Tomorrow’s prices come out around 2 p.m. Until then the page says so. Afterwards it shows:
- Ø — tomorrow’s average price and, below it, how it compares with today (green = cheaper, red = more expensive).
- The chart for all of tomorrow, with a white line under the cheapest window.
- MIN · MAX and tomorrow’s cheapest window. If there will be negative prices, a blue line such as „NEGATIVE 8-19h“ replaces MIN · MAX.
6Colours and negative prices
| Colour | Meaning |
|---|---|
| green | cheap electricity |
| amber | normal price |
| red | expensive electricity |
| blue | negative market price |
The cheap / normal / expensive levels come from spotovaelektrina.cz. For fixed limits set Cheap below and Expensive above in CZK/kWh (see settings).
Blue follows the market price. With the surcharge and VAT switched on, the number on the display can still be positive while the bar is blue: the market pays, but distribution and fees still apply.
7Settings
On your phone: the Connect IQ app (or Garmin Connect) → your device → apps → Spotovka → Settings.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Update interval | 60 min | How often prices refresh in the background: 15, 30 or 60 minutes. With 15 minutes the glance always has the current 15-minute price; the chart is fine with an hourly refresh. |
| Cheapest window length | 2 h | 1 to 4 hours — how long the appliance you want to schedule runs. |
| Surcharge per kWh | 0 CZK | Distribution and fees in CZK per kWh, added to the spot price (see your bill or your supplier’s price list). |
| Add 21% VAT | off | Shows prices including VAT. |
| Cheap below | 0 = automatic | A fixed limit for green, in CZK/kWh (after surcharge and VAT). |
| Expensive above | 0 = automatic | A fixed limit for red, in CZK/kWh. |
8Tips and FAQ
Why does the price differ from my bill?
By default Spotovka shows the plain market price. Add distribution, fees and VAT in the settings (Surcharge per kWh, Add 21% VAT).
Does it work without the phone?
Yes, with what it has already downloaded. Today’s prices are valid all day, so the chart and the cheapest window work until midnight; tomorrow’s prices and the live 15-minute price need the next phone connection.
I am abroad and the hours look off.
Prices are in Czech time, but Spotovka places them by your watch’s clock, so outside Central European Time the chart is shifted.
What does „ERR“ with a number under „No data yet“ mean?
The last download error. If it persists, send the number via „Contact Developer“ in the store.
Can Spotovka switch on my washer or charger?
No. It shows prices; it does not control appliances.
Which watches are supported?
53 models: fēnix 7, 8 and 9 (including Pro and Solar), fēnix E, epix 2 and epix Pro, enduro 3, MARQ 2, Forerunner 165, 170, 255, 265, 570, 955, 965 and 970, Venu 2, 3, 4 and X1, and vívoactive 5 and 6. The full list is on the store page.

1.1.1 BETA 2026-09-22
- Fixed: a long glance title (cheapest window with a countdown) no longer runs into the mini chart; when it does not fit, the countdown is left out
- Fixed: on the Tomorrow page the English comparison is shorter („19% BELOW TODAY“) so it fits instead of shrinking to „-19 %“
1.1.0 BETA 2026-09-22
- The cheapest window now looks 24 hours ahead. Once tomorrow’s prices are out (around 2 p.m.) it can point to tomorrow’s cheap noon in the evening („CHEAPEST TOMORROW 12-14h“); a window that starts today shows a countdown („IN 55 MIN“) and a white line under its bars in the chart
- The glance names the cheapest window of the next 8 hours, the same hours its mini chart shows („CHEAP 1-3h“), and underlines those bars
- Negative prices are shown in blue: the bars below zero, the price itself (labelled NEGATIVE), and on the Tomorrow page a line with the negative hours
- The Tomorrow page shows tomorrow’s average price and how it compares with today („19% BELOW TODAY“)
- Hours that are already over are dimmed, so the eye goes to what is still ahead; the bars have a smoother colour gradient
- Long lines at the bottom of the screen now respect the round display and shorten themselves instead of running into the edge
- fēnix 9 support (43 mm, 47/51 mm, Pro 43/47/51 mm, Pro Solar 47/51 mm) – 53 supported watches
1.0.0 2026-07-28
- First public release: the Czech spot electricity price (OTE day-ahead market) on your wrist, with the live 15-minute price in the glance and in the widget
- 24-hour chart for today and tomorrow (tomorrow’s prices come out around 2 p.m.), the cheapest 1-4 hour window from the current hour, MIN/MAX and the daily average
- Optional distribution surcharge and 21% VAT, so the price matches your bill
- Background updates every 15, 30 or 60 minutes; today’s chart keeps working offline until midnight
0.9.1 BETA 2026-07-23
- The price label shows the hour range (e.g. „19-20h“) instead of NOW when the number is the hourly average rather than a fresh live quarter, so it never looks more current than it is
0.9.0 BETA 2026-07-23
- First beta: glance with the live price and an 8-hour mini chart, TODAY and TOMORROW pages with the 24-hour chart, MIN/MAX and the cheapest window, settings for the update interval, window length, surcharge, VAT and your own cheap/expensive thresholds, Czech and English
