Every puzzle has exactly one solution and can be solved by pure logic, no guessing. Start in the Courtyard, where a guide teaches you the rules, and take on Today’s puzzle every day. REGNA+ opens every region on the Road to the Throne, all the way to the 10×10 Throne.
Each board is a map of petty kingdoms: unite them by giving every kingdom exactly one king, and neighbouring kings must never meet.

1What the game is about
REGNA is a logic puzzle for your watch. The board is split into coloured kingdoms, and your job is to place crowns so that every kingdom, every row and every column holds exactly one.
Each board is a map of petty kingdoms. You unite them by giving every kingdom exactly one king, and neighbouring kings must never meet.
The catch: crowns may not touch, not even at a corner. Everything follows from that. One crown rules out its neighbours, the rest of its row and column and its own kingdom, until only one spot is left for the next crown.
Every puzzle has exactly one solution and can be solved by reasoning alone, so you never have to guess. If you get stuck, a hint shows you the next step and explains why it works.

2Rules
- Each row has exactly one crown.
- Each column has exactly one crown.
- Each kingdom (a coloured area with a gold border) has exactly one crown.
- Two crowns may never touch, diagonally included.
The puzzle is solved the moment all crowns are placed and no rule is broken. Crosses and dots are just your notes and don’t count either way.
When two crowns break a rule, the game marks them straight away and tells you why at the top: CROWNS TOUCH, SAME LINE or SAME KINGDOM.

3Installing and your first puzzle
- Open the Connect IQ app on your phone, search for REGNA and install it on your watch.
- Start it from the watch’s app list. On most watches it also appears in your glances, showing whether today’s puzzle is still waiting and how many days in a row you’ve solved it.
- Begin in the Courtyard. Its five puzzles ease you in: three short lessons explain the rules, with a gold ring showing where to play next. The last two you solve on your own.
Your progress is saved after every move. Leave in the middle of a puzzle and you’ll find it under Continue on the home screen.

4Home screen
The Today medallion in the middle holds today’s puzzle. The dots above it are the last seven days; today’s dot gets a tick once you’ve solved it. Below the medallion is a menu you scroll with the buttons or a swipe:
- Continue — the puzzle you left unfinished, if any.
- Road to the Throne — all the regions of puzzles.
- Today’s challenge — a bigger 9×9 daily puzzle, locked without REGNA+.
- Statistics and Settings.
- Rules — the rules, including walls, two crowns and royal trials.
- Leaderboard — the online leaderboards of Today’s puzzle, Today’s challenge and the regions.
Tap the medallion or press START to play today’s puzzle.

5Playing by touch
| Gesture | What it does |
|---|---|
| Tap a cell | Cycles the marks: empty → cross → crown → empty. Settings can flip the order so the first tap places a crown. |
| Hold a cell | Places a crown right away. |
| Drag across cells | Crosses out every empty cell you pass over — handy for clearing a whole row at once. Drag vertically or right to left: some watches (the vívoactive 6, for one) read a left-to-right drag as the back gesture and open the game menu instead. |
| Swipe right, BACK | Opens the game menu (hint, undo, …). |
The game draws the dots for you: they mark cells where a crown can no longer go because it would touch another crown or share its row, column or kingdom. If you’d rather cross cells out yourself, turn off Auto dots in the settings.
7Hints
Open a hint from the game menu. Rather than just handing you a crown, it shows the next step you could have worked out yourself. The cells involved stay lit while the rest of the board dims; the reason is at the top, the conclusion at the bottom.
Hints go from simple to clever:
- Your mistakes first. “This crown cannot stay.” or “A crown belongs here.” when you’ve crossed out a cell that needs a crown.
- Last free cell. “Row 2 has one free cell left — the crown goes there.” The same works for a column or a kingdom.
- A kingdom in a single line. “This kingdom fits only in row 4 — rest of row 4 is empty.”
- Trying it out. “A crown here would block the whole highlighted kingdom.” So that cell can be crossed out.
If none of these applies, the game simply reveals a crown.
You get one free hint a day. When it’s used up, the game offers REGNA+, which gives you as many as you like. A hint stays on screen until your next tap or button press.

8The Road to the Throne and its regions
Puzzles are grouped into six regions along the road. Each one is harder than the last, and the boards grow all the way to 10×10. Beyond the Throne lies a seventh region, Coronation, which opens once you take the Throne.
| Region | Puzzles | Board | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Courtyard | 5 | 5×5 to 7×7, with lessons | free |
| Valley | 40 | 6×6 and 7×7 | REGNA+ |
| Wildwood | 60 | 8×8 | REGNA+ |
| Peaks | 60 | 8×8, tougher | REGNA+ |
| Harbour | 60 | 9×9 | REGNA+ |
| Throne | 60 | 10×10 | REGNA+ |
| Coronation | 30 | 10×10, two crowns | REGNA+ |
Road to the Throne shows the regions as shields around the edge of the screen. Turn them with the buttons or a swipe; the middle shows the region’s name, board size and how many puzzles you’ve solved. Open a region to see its puzzles with their stars. They go in order, but you can skip up to two ahead if one doesn’t click.

Special puzzles
Some boards bend the rules a little. The first time you meet one, the game explains it on a short page before you play.
- Walls — stone squares where no crown may stand. They belong to no kingdom.
- Snakes — long, winding kingdoms that are harder to read.
- Two crowns — in Coronation every row, column and kingdom holds two crowns. They still never touch.
Royal trials
Every region from the Valley to the Throne has its royal trials, the hardest puzzles of the region. A new one opens after every ten puzzles you solve there, and it sits right after those ten in the list. Trials are played without hints. Pass one and it gets a seal.
Uniting a region
Solve every puzzle in a region and it is united. The game celebrates, the region’s shield turns gold with a crown and laurels, and the Road to the Throne shows your progress in each region around its rim. Unite all six regions and the realm is united: a finale awaits.

9Today’s puzzle and Today’s challenge
Today’s puzzle is a fresh 6×6 board every day, and it’s free. Solve it several days running and your streak grows; you can see it on the home medallion, in the glance and in the statistics.
Every Sunday, Today’s puzzle is a special one, with walls or snakes.
Today’s challenge is a daily 9×9 puzzle for REGNA+ players. On Tuesday it has walls, on Thursday snakes, on Saturday both, and on Sunday it is a royal trial. Without REGNA+ it sits on the home screen with a lock and shows what REGNA+ includes when you open it.
10REGNA+ and how to buy it
For free you get the Courtyard, Today’s puzzle and one hint a day. REGNA+ unlocks everything else:
- five more regions with 280 puzzles, up to the 10×10 Throne,
- 28 royal trials and Coronation, 30 puzzles with two crowns,
- Today’s challenge (9×9),
- unlimited hints.
It costs $2.99, once. No subscription, no account. Payment is handled by KiezelPay.
Buying, step by step
- Open a locked region or Today’s challenge and press START.
- The watch asks for a code. It needs its phone connection for that.
- A six-digit code appears on the watch. On your phone go to kzl.io/code, enter the code and pay.
- Keep the code screen open. The gold ring around the display fills up to show when the watch checks again whether your payment has arrived. The game unlocks within a minute of paying.
The watch remembers the unlock, so REGNA+ keeps working without your phone.

11Stars, records and statistics
Solve a puzzle and the game shows CROWNED! with your time and stars. Beat your best time for that board size and you’ll see new best. START takes you straight to the next puzzle.
| Stars | Earned for |
|---|---|
| ★★★ | No hints, no clashing crowns at any point, and within 5 seconds per cell (3 minutes on a 6×6). |
| ★★ | One hint at most. |
| ★ | Solved with more hints. |
With the online leaderboard on, the win screen shows your place instead of the streak or the record, for example Place 12 of 27. More in Online leaderboards.
Statistics show how many of the 285 puzzles you’ve solved, your total stars, your current and longest streak of Today’s puzzle, and your best times on 6×6, 8×8 and 10×10 boards.

12Settings and the game menu
Settings

| Nickname | random | Your name on the leaderboards, typed right on the watch. |
Game menu
Open it with BACK or a swipe to the right.

| Clear crosses | Removes all crosses and keeps the crowns. |
| Start over | Clears the board and restarts the puzzle. |
| Rules | The rules, including those of the puzzle you’re playing. |
| Leave | Back to the menu; the puzzle stays saved. |

13Online leaderboards
Compare your times with other players. Every leaderboard ranks time, the shorter the better:
- Today’s puzzle and Today’s challenge — a new leaderboard every day,
- every puzzle of the regions on its own, from the Courtyard to Coronation,
- a whole region — the sum of the times of all its puzzles, sent once you unite the region.
Only your first solve counts. A puzzle you play again is not sent, because you already know the answer, but the win screen still shows your place from the first time. Royal trials have no leaderboard.
After a win, the line under your time tells you what happened to the result:
| On the screen | What it means |
|---|---|
| Sending result | The result is on its way through your phone. |
| Place 12 of 27 | The server has it: you are 12th of 27 players. |
| Will send later | The watch is not connected to your phone right now. The result waits and goes out the next time you open the game. |
| Result not accepted | The server refused it, for example because solving took longer than two hours. |
Open Leaderboard on the home screen to see the top five and your own place, highlighted in gold. Turn the pages with ▲▼ or a swipe: Today’s puzzle, Today’s challenge and the seven regions. All leaderboards, including the ones for single puzzles, are also on the web at leaderboard.petrrezek.net.

Nickname and privacy
No account is needed. The watch sends only an anonymous ID, your nickname and the result: the time, the board size and the number of hints. The server works out just the country from the connection and shows it as a flag. Until you pick a nickname you appear as “Solver” with a random code, such as Solver 4F2A.
Type a nickname right on the watch: Settings → Nickname. The keyboard has letters, digits, accented letters and Cyrillic; the bottom row holds the space, the page switch, delete and ✓ to save. Tap the keys, or pick them with ▲▼ and press START. A nickname has 3 to 16 characters; save it empty and you get a random one again. A new nickname shows on the leaderboards right away. You can also set it in the Connect IQ app on your phone (Regna → Settings).
Don’t want to take part? Turn off Online leaderboard in Settings and the watch sends nothing.
14Castles and the Round Table
Castles are side regions along the Road to the Throne. Each has a custom of its own, one rule that differs from the rest of the game. A castle stands by a region and opens once you unite that region (REGNA+). Castles don’t count for the finale.
On the map, a region with a castle has a small castle by its shield. Open the castles with Castles at the bottom of the map: with ▲▼ it is the last stop after Coronation, or tap the small castle. In the castles menu ▲▼ pick a castle, START opens it and BACK returns to the map.

The Round Table stands by the Valley. Its boards are round, without corner cells, so they fill the whole display and the cells are bigger than anywhere else: 20 puzzles on 8×8 and 20 on 10×10. The rules stay the same. The time is in the top left corner, the crowns in the top right, and messages run along the bottom edge. It has its own leaderboards.
15Supported watches
REGNA runs on 51 Garmin watch models:
- fēnix 9, 9 Pro, 8 (including Pro and Solar), fēnix E and fēnix 6S Pro; also tactix 7 AMOLED, tactix 8, quatix 7 and quatix 8
- epix (Gen 2) and epix Pro (Gen 2)
- Forerunner 70, 165, 170, 265, 265s, 570, 965 and 970
- Venu 2, 2 Plus, 2S, 3, 3S and 4; vívoactive 5 and 6
- Instinct 3 AMOLED and Instinct Crossover AMOLED
- MARQ (Gen 2), D2 Air X10, Air X15, Mach 1, Mach 1 Pro, Mach 2 and Mach 2 Pro, Descent G2 and Mk3, Approach S50 and S70
The game adapts to each display. On watches without curved text (Venu 2, vívoactive 5 or fēnix 6S Pro, for example) titles are drawn straight, and on smaller screens only one menu line fits under the home medallion — the rest scrolls. fēnix 8 Solar and fēnix 6S Pro draw the board in the bright colours of their displays.
16FAQ
Does the game need my phone or the internet?
You can play without either. The phone is needed when you buy REGNA+ and for the online leaderboards, whose results go out through the phone. If the watch is not connected at the moment, the result waits and is sent later.
Why isn’t my result on the leaderboard?
Only the first solve of a puzzle counts; later attempts are not sent. If the win screen said “Will send later”, the result goes out once the watch is connected to your phone and you open the game again. And check that Online leaderboard is on in Settings.
I’ve paid, but the game is still locked.
Keep the code screen open on the watch and check that the watch is connected to your phone. The unlock arrives within a minute of paying. If you closed the screen in the meantime, open a locked region again and press START.
Can a puzzle have no solution?
No. Every puzzle has exactly one solution, and all of them are checked. If it feels impossible, a crown or cross is probably in the wrong place — the first hint points out mistakes.
Do I have to finish a puzzle in one go?
No. Every move is saved, and you’ll find the unfinished puzzle under Continue.
Why didn’t I get three stars without using a hint?
Three stars also need no clashing crowns at any point and a time within 5 seconds per cell.
